Tiered Margin Structure and Fee Calculation
I. What is the Tiered Margin Structure
Risk Limit is a platform-level definition that divides margin requirements into multiple tiers based on your position size. Each tier corresponds to a different Initial Margin Rate and Maintenance Margin Rate.
Simply put: the larger the position, the lower the available leverage and the more margin required.
II. Tiered Example (Gold XAUUSDT Perpetual Contract)
Tier | Maximum Notional Position Value | Maximum Leverage | Initial Margin Rate | Maintenance Margin Rate (MMR) |
Tier 1 | [0, $500,000) | 100x | 1% | 0.5% |
Tier 2 | [$500,000 – $1,000,000) | 50x | 2% | 1% |
Tier 3 | [$1,000,000 – $2,000,000) | 25x | 4% | 2% |
Tier 4 | [$2,000,000 and above) | 10x | 10% | 5% |

III. Position Limit
The position limit is a user-level restriction equal to the current open position quantity plus current open order quantity, and cannot exceed the maximum amount allowed for the user's current risk tier. The system automatically determines the tier based on your leverage.
IV. Impact of Leverage Adjustment on Margin
After adjusting leverage, the margin will change accordingly:
Margin Change = New Position Initial Margin − Old Position Initial Margin
Reducing leverage increases occupied margin; increasing leverage releases margin to the available balance, but also increases liquidation risk.
